The sixth interview of Lightning in a Bottle is with Naughty Princess! She is a Los Angeles-based DJ, originally from Australia, known for her sexy and magical sound that gets the dance floor moving. Dive in with Naughty Princess and Baby Kush during her interview at Lightning in a Bottle:
Baby Kush: Are there any women who have inspired you on your artistic journey?
Naughty Princess: My sister. She’s not in the music field, she’s actually a mermaid. She’s world renowned and to have her follow her dream to the point where she made it into an amazing career, I’ve always just looked up to her.
Baby Kush: Is there something that you wish a younger version of yourself knew?
Naughty Princess: Start earlier! I’ve always been in love with dance music ever since I came across it as a teenager. It was when my father, who was a musician his whole life, passed that I got that very strong message: life is short.
Baby Kush: What advice do you have for aspiring women and femme DJs?
Naughty Princess: It’s an act of service to provide a space for people to feel that kind of joy.
Baby Kush: What is your most memorable fan interaction?
Naughty Princess: I’m at Burning Man, in the middle of a dust storm and I’m up there and I’m playing and it’s dusty and I’ve got a mask on and I’m in the middle of a mix and this beautiful couple came up to me and is just like, we have this gift for you. They gave me this beautiful crown. And I was like, ‘this is the most magical moment ever, but one second, I got to mix!’ And then when I looked up, they were gone! Luckily, a couple years later I ran into them.
Baby Kush: What is your dream b2b?
Naughty Princess: It’s got to be Troyboi.
Baby Kush: What do you want your legacy to be?
Naughty Princess: I want people that come to my sets and hear my music and I want them to have the kind of experience that when they’re old and they’re looking back at their life, it’s in there as one of these beautiful moments.
