A little about Shambhala
Shambhala is one of Canada’s biggest music festivals and attracts over 20,000 attendees from across Canada, the United States, and more. It is an annual electronic festival held on Salmo River Ranch in British Columbia, filled with beautiful natural scenery and magical energy. Shambhala is known for its six unique stages, stunning art installations, and being a place that returning attendees call home.

About Bass n Babes: Bass n Babes is a bass music collective that aims to uplift queer, femme, and underrepresented DJs/producers. By bringing queer and feminine energy to bass music culture, we push the scene forward and tap into talent that has historically been overlooked. Bass n Babes is an event series, music label, artist collective, and so much more! Over the past two years, we began interviewing the artists who inspire us at festivals to share their voices with the world through our platform. We are attending Shambhala for the second year in a row to share some of these artists’ voices. Read on for our recommendations of bass babes to see at Shambhala!

Two Girls one Laptop
Two girls one laptop is your new favorite duo! @kureimusic and @officialauracle are behind the project, serving bass, UKG, and big main character energy. Known for their sexy, pants-less suits and scandalously fun sets, these two femme fatales curate a tightly selective archive of slappers that will leave the dance floor soaking wet. Blending UK bass, garage, and experimental sounds with a slutty flavor, they’re redefining the bass scene one song at a time. Known for their bold sound and even bolder energy, the duo made their debut with Sugar&Spice on Odyzey Records.

Shosh
Shosh is a staple in the UK Garage scene, being at the forefront of 24HourGarageGirls for 10 years. Recently, she decided to explore a new sound and found her passion in the world of dubstep. She brings an exciting new energy to the scene, combining UK and US culture with her unique UKG/140 flavor. She’s released on UKF, Deadbeats, and Deep, Dark & Dangerous, and performed at major festivals including Rampage, Shambhala, and Breakaway.

Air Castles
Air Castles bridges light and dark with her genre-breaking sound of tomorrow. Her experimental production fuses elements of grime, r&b, and tribalesque elements to create a hauntingly sexy palette of sounds. Her debut was in April 2022 and she’s already captivated a wide-eyed audience with her grimy DJ sets and boundary pushing productions.

Flava D
Flava D’s reputation speaks for itself. She is one of the most versatile and respected producers in the game, with over a decade at the forefront of UK bass music, spanning UKG, bassline, grime, and d&b. Flava D’s signature sound is deeply embedded in the DNA of UK dance music. From her technical finesse to her instinctive selections, she is known in the scene as a taste-maker.

Veil
VEIL is the highly explosive, dark and mysterious byproduct of many years of creative evolution. Her former DJ project spacegeishA toured the globe, and is one of VEIL’s biggest influences, giving her the strength and confidence to take risks and set trends. She produces her own original tracks with cutting edge soundscapes, transporting listeners to cryptic dimensions where the bass rattles heavy. Her sound is refined, but spicy, chaos, weaving together elements from dubstep, drum and bass, halftime, and leftfield. The polished curation of a VEIL encounter combines her live selecting skills, original tracks, and custom visual elements -- making each set its own paradigm shift. She is pushing the sound of bass music forward with her own productions as well as with her record label Street Ritual.

Zingara
Zingara has been able to combine her love and connection for spirituality, magic, and energy, and turn it into a unique and ethereal sound within her art. Her manifestations have led her to the forefront of the bass scene creating an influential pathway for women in the industry. Within 5 years, she grew from playing small college bars to taking on big stages at Lost Lands, Shambhala, and Electric Forest, as well as selling out tours. She recently went on a successful Tour called Parallel Spirits with Level Up, hitting many big cities throughout the US.

Clozee
Chloé Herry started her musical journey at an early age and began to create a mix of EDM sounds with her guitar melodies around the age of 16. Fast-forward 17 years, she has become one of the most well-known queer bass artists in the industry. She is known for her distinct “world bass” sound and created her own label, Odyzey Music, in 2020, featuring singles from powerful talent such as GriZ, Of The Trees, Zingara and LSDream. Through her label, she has put in her time and energy in uplifting, supporting, and mentoring queer and female bass artists as a way to provide opportunities for a largely underrepresented group in the EDM industry. CloZee has shared that her work is motivated through her journey as a queer woman and her experiences travelling around the world.

Level Up
Level Up is a Los Angeles based producer and DJ known for mixing heavy dubstep and future bass, spicy double drops, and creating her own catchy flips of classic dance and popular emo songs. Her music has made an impact on audiences and created a strong fan base. She has released a lot of her own music on many notable labels such as Deadbeats, Monstercat, GRVDNCR, and Buygore, along with her own label, Summoning Circle. In the past few years, she has headlined several tours and has been seen on lineups for multiple massive festivals including Lost Lands, Electric Forest, Lollapalooza, EDC Las Vegas, Bass Canyon, and Ultra Music Festival. She has made impactful strides in her career as one of the leading female bass producers/djs in the industry and continues to be an inspiration to up and coming femme artists in the scene.
Sippy
SIPPY is originally from Sydney, Australia and is now based in Los Angeles where she’s become a powerhouse in the bass music scene. She is known for pushing boundaries with her versatile music production by creating tracks that feature heavy dubstep combined with intentional melodic and emotionally provoking vocals. Her talent and passion has led her to producing a number of original releases and opened up opportunities working with big names including Marshmello, Zeds Dead, and Excision. She has released music on some notable labels including Deadbeats, Monstercat , Bassrush Records, and UKF. Throughout the last few years, she has been seen on lineups for some major festivals including Lost Lands, Tomorrowland, EDC Las Vegas, and Bass Canyon. Through her extensive background in production, audio engineering, and teaching music, she is making impactful and influential strides in the bass music scene.
SHIMA
SHIMA is a Japanese-American artist who started off her career through music production, with skills developed from her degree in Music and Computer Engineering. She started DJing later on in order to feature and play her own music to a larger audience. She has created her own unique path in the scene through a sub-genre she calls experimental global electronica where she incorporates world music elements with different organic sounds and instruments into her tracks. Her unparalleled style reached the interest of TOKiMONSTA's Young Art Records, where she got signed in 2024 and released her debut album, SHIMAJIMA. She has been seen on lineups for big festivals including Electric Forest, Breakaway, Ultra, and Nocturnal Wonderland. She continues to excel in her own path and hopes to influence artists to incorporate cultural elements in their music.
